We had often been asked for Lokanta takeaway and now we have our own food to go place just up the road.

Med Food Co is a Mediterranean style street food takeaway and shop in Broomhill, Sheffield.  We think of it as healthy fast food because it is good quality, made from scratch and mainly grilled.  We make it ourselves so we know exactly what is in everything.  Our menu includes grilled chicken, lamb, kofte meatballs, halloumi and falafel which come in either our home-made flatbread wraps or in a salad or rice box.

We have been serving Turkish Mediterranean food at Lokanta in Broomhill, Sheffield since 2009 when we left Antalya on the Turquoise Coast and moved our family to sunny Sheffield.  We are a husband and wife team with roots in both countries.  When we arrived here we found the local food scene dominated by Italian, Spanish and Modern British and we wanted to open a restaurant to show what Turkey could bring to the table.

Along the way there has been a lot of cooking in the Lokanta kitchen.  Meze are all made in house.  Bread is baked daily and baklava also comes fresh from the Lokanta oven.  Ingredients are sourced both locally for freshness and via Turkish suppliers for authenticity.  Customers enjoy a mix of meze dishes and grilled mains in a restaurant atmosphere.  People have often asked for Lokanta takeaway meals or meze and bread to take home but the restaurant has stuck to plated food and table service.

The restaurant has had successful pop up outings at Sheffield Food Festival where we presented the 100% British Beef real doner kebab and charcoal grilled wraps.  Using the same quality ingredients and freshly baked bread in a simple informal takeaway style.  Now at Med Food Co we have developed this permanently.
